The 21st Panzer Division resumed its role as a "fire brigade" in the Lorraine region as it stopped the U.S. 6th Armored Division's break-through on November 13. The division then moved on to the Sainte Barbara sector in front of the West Wall fortifications. On the 24th of November, the town of Butzdorf was held by a single company of the 358th Infantry Regiment. The 21st was ordered to drive the Americans from the town.
